Mabizashi Sun Visor in red buntal straw

$268.00
  • I hand-draped and hand-stitched the Mabizashi Sun Visor from red buntal straw. The edges are bound in dark grey grosgrain ribbon. Turn heads wherever you go with this dynamic sculptural beauty.

  • I was inspired by the Japanese Kabuto, helmets for Samourai warriors. Issey Miyake would love this visor to go with his 'Pleats Please' collection.

  • Buntal (also called jinsin) is a fine fiber derived from the stalks of unopened leaves of talipot palms grown in the Philippines and is lovingly handwoven there on wooden looms into flat yardage.

  • This wonderful material is lightweight and will moderately shade your lovely skin from the sun.

  • I use all of the material, not cutting into it and creating no scraps, so this is a zero waste hat!

  • Transformative: can also be worn upside down. It can also be worn squashed down or at its tallest (moldable).

  • The visor extends out 2 1/2" from the forehead at the center front.

  • Adjustable grosgrain ribbon inside: 22" to 23" can be the size of your head. So it stays on in high winds!

Peace of mind

I know that it can be tricky choosing a hat online! It’s always best to try hats on in person, because everyone has a different shape head and face. For complete peace of mind, all hats can be exchanged or returned for full money back.

Jinsin, also called Buntal, is a straw handwoven in the Philippines. I sculpt the material by hand into different unique and exciting shapes. You can see them for sale at http://www.jasminzorlu.com/shop/
